Insights: Tinmasters sponsors junior golf team

Tinmasters has its own established and well supported golf team (called The Tinmen) and an annual trip to Spain is the highlight of their sporting calendar. So when we heard earlier this year that a local junior team was looking for sponsors to help them take up their hard-won place at the Junior Team Golf Home Nations Inter-Club Championship in Montado, Portugal, we were happy to get involved.

The Llanwern Juniors won the Welsh Junior Inter-Club Championship in 2017, earning them an automatic entry to the international event in Portugal and a chance to compete against winning teams from England, Scotland and Ireland.  Six talented young golfers were chosen to represent the Llanwern junior club and Tinmasters chipped in with a £1,000 donation towards their travel costs and team polo shirts embroidered with the new Tinmasters logo.

After months of preparation, the intrepid group of players, parents and organisers set off for the six-day event, which ran from 6-11 March 2018.  The competition standard was very high but the Llanwern team was more than up to the challenge, finishing second overall.
