“I was interested in metalwork from a young age, so as soon as I left school I signed on for a five year apprenticeship in tool making and went from there.

My first job for Tinmasters involved selling fancy tin cans. I then moved into Print Planning and over time moved up the ladder to Press Shop Manager (in charge of aerosol can and component end production). I also did a spell as Health, Safety & Environmental Manager before returning to the front line as Engineering Manager. I’ve had a good career here with lots of opportunities to work on interesting projects, many involving customers, adding to my knowledge and qualifications along the way.

I really enjoy the sense of close teamwork here and the satisfaction that comes with keeping our machinery in tip top condition. I also really like our new company name. In fact, during the first meeting about our rebrand, I mentioned to Richard O’Neill [Chief Executive Officer] that local people still call this place ‘the tin works’ and members of the local golf society are known as ‘the tin men’ so Tinmasters is the perfect name for us – because it describes who we are and what we’ve been doing all these years anyway!”
